New arrivals at Field and Fawcett
Field and Fawcett Wine Merchants and Delicatessen was founded in August 2006 by Peter and Cathryn Fawcett.
After 22 years in the wine trade, Peter decided it was about time he set out on his own. He invited his wife Cathryn to go on the journey with him to run a delicatessen alongside his wines.
This is the first ever vintage of this Syrah, and what a first effort! David Clouston (owner and head winemaker of Two Rivers) was convinced several years ago of the potential of Syrah in the Southern Hills sub region of the Wairau valley. This single vineyard site has produced a wine reminiscent of quality Northern Rhone Syrah, the benchmark for all Syrah producers.
Aromas of black peppercorn and herbes de Provence lead into the palate of blueberry and black fruit with leathery, savoury undertones. The wine is bright and fresh with great concentration. Proof if proof were needed that New Zealand is far more than a one trick Sauvignon Blanc pony.
We're passionate about quality and providing the best from breakfast to tea time.
Situated at the back of our existing site, regulars know exactly where to find the new Café, whilst new customers will have no problem locating us with us being situated on Hull Road, Grimston Bar, just off the A64 from Leeds to Scarborough.
