Santa Carolina Reserva Merlot

Founded in 1875 and currently owned by the Larrain family, Santa Carolina focuses on producing high quality, consistent wines year after year with a unique and distinctive character to each of the wines they produce.

Grown in the Cachapoal Valley, the temperatures vary greatly from warm days to cool nights, which allows the grapes to ripen slowly, maintain their natural acidity, and develop complex flavours. This primarily hand-picked Merlot is fermented in stainless steel tanks before being aged in oak vats for a few months to develop complexity and smoothness in the wine.

This Merlot produces rich raspberry and sour cherry notes on the nose and palate, as well as hints of sweet spices, cinnamon and tobacco. With a balanced acidity and gentle tannins, this Merlot would be the perfect match for a chicken stew or mushroom risotto.
