The varieties grown for the Alejandro wines, such as Saperavi, adapt exceptionally well to the climate of the Murray Darling wine-growing region, which mirrors that of their ancestral homes, in the case of Saperavi, Georgia.
Lashings of mulberry, dark fruits, fennel and spice combine to produce a complex aromatic wine that resembles a rich, dark fruit cake. There's a touch of mature tannic structure, full bodied with lots of French and American oak to compliment the pronounced fruits and sweet spices, try alongside some rum & rasin chocolate!
The Saperavi grape harks back to Georgia, some 5000 + years ago and is an absolute delight. Works great with red Meat courses. Really pleased to have discovered this grape variety.
