Rippa Dorii, a venture of the Ontañón Family, crafts wines in two of Spain's premier wine regions along the Duero River: Ribera del Duero and Rueda. The brand's name, Rippa Dorii, is the Latin form of 'Ribera del Duero', inspired by the 13th-century Santa Maria de Ripa Dorii chapel in Torrecilla de la Abadesa.
Their vineyards are situated in Fuentecén, at the core of the Ribera region, where the Duero and its tributary, the Riaza, flow. These high-altitude vineyards, reaching over 900 meters, face challenging conditions: unpredictable rainfall, frosts, and brief, searingly hot summers. Here, they exclusively cultivate Tempranillo grapes, locally known as Tinto Fino or Tinta del Pais.
This Crianza boasts enhanced power and oak influence while maintaining remarkable freshness. Its well-integrated oak contributes to a long, complex finish. The wine presents aromas of bramble fruit, vanilla, nutmeg, and sweet spices. On the palate, it delivers rich flavours of blueberry and blackberry, complemented by ripe tannins and impressive length.
This wine pairs excellently with lamb chops, chorizo-based dishes, and robust vegetable casseroles.
