The Ricasoli family has been intertwined with Italian history since Charlemagne's era, serving as noble defenders of Florence from 1200 onward and playing pivotal roles in major historical events, including the unification of Italy. Most notably, Bettino Ricasoli, known as the "Iron Baron," served twice as Prime Minister during Italy's post-unification period and revolutionized winemaking by creating the Chianti formula in 1872 that became today's Chianti Classico.
The family's connection to wine dates back to 1141 when they acquired Brolio Castle, and they have since become the most representative winery in the Chianti Classico region. Today, Baron Francesco Ricasoli leads the estate's 1,200 hectares (including 240 hectares of vineyards) with a focus on sustainable management, soil research, and Sangiovese clonal selection, honoring his ancestors' legacy while bringing contemporary innovation to their winemaking tradition that has been exported globally for centuries.
Antico Feudo Toscana is a blend of Sangiovese and complementary grape varieties.
