Ata Rangi Pinot Noir

The Ata Rangi vineyards are situated in Wairarapa, just north of Wellington. The grapes are planted on a thin layer of well-drained alluvial soil deposited on wht was the original course of the river as it flowed east to the Pacific Ocean. The fruit for this wine was sourced largely from the oldest blocks on the winery. Crushed rose petal, red fruits and cherry stone meld with a seam of spice on the nose. On the palate the impression is more of a spread of dark fruits and deep, savoury flavours. Tannins are very fine, almost chalky, providing a long, driven finish.
