Joseph Perrier Cuvee Royale Brut

Founded in 1825 (4 years before Bollinger) Joseph Perrier is one of the original Grandes Marques. Still in family ownership and control, the wine is only distributed in the UK through independent wine merchants, and never on the high street. Located in Chalons en Champagne, the wine is aged in 3km of Roman chalk cellars. The NV is aged for 3 years whilst the rose is aged for 4 years. Pale gold in colour with fine bubbles and a delicate, persistent mousse. On the nose, fine aromas of citrus peel and orchard fruit, especially apples and peaches with a hint of vanilla and cinnamon spice. The palate is full but very well rounded with refreshing acidity and lingering aftertaste.
