Rully Rouge,1er Cru La Fosse, Jean Baptiste Ponsot 2021

This fabulous Rully from Jean Baptiste Ponsot is drawn from the premier cru 'La Fosse' vineyards. The wine spends a year in oak with 40% new and 60% old. The result is a wonderfully complex example from this somewhat under the radar appellation. There's a density of fruit but it's not heavy or over baring, perfectly weighted and gently floral. Whilst soft and inviting, there's a serious structure underpinning the wine. Most definitely one that can be opened enjoyed now but there is potential for another 5-10 years of development in bottle.
