Glenkinchie Distillers Edition

Founded in 1825, Glenkinchie is located just 15 miles from the Scottish capital, Edinburgh, and has produced whisky for over 200 years. They are one of the original 5 lowland distillers and one of the very few who continued production during the Second World War. Even though they have great renown, most of their production goes into blends, with roughly only 10% being used for their aged single malt expressions. 

A collection of carefully selected casks double-aged in rechared Amontillado American oak casks and European oak casks. Producing a crisp, beautifully formed and complex dram. Perfectly balanced between the drier notes from the wine element and sweeter, nutty notes of barley and cask wood. Lightly oily on the palate and sweetly malty in taste to start, then soon waves of spice build on the back of rich dried fruit, think raisin and date. Creamy and smooth too, with more fruit-led sweetness balanced by warming wood-spice as it dries from mid-palate on. long finish, dry and oaky, with white pepper spice. Such a balanced dram, absolutely delicious.
