Established in the village of Marsannay back in the 1960′s by Bernard Coillot, the father of current proprietor Christophe Coillot. The estate includes 30 acres of vineyards, ranging from 20 to 65 years of age. Christophe’s philosophy is to make terroir-driven wines as naturally as possible, with the least amount of intervention in the vineyard. The estate practices sustainable farming and does not use insecticides, pesticides or herbicides.
Aged for 18 months in oak his 'Grasses Tetes' Marsannay is a wonderfully pure expression of Pinot Noir with an abundance of ripe fruit on the palate. Dotted throughout are subtle touches of green herb and a deft touch vanilla spice before an earthy finish. This is a complex, very well built wine that would comfortably mix it alongside considerably more expensive examples from the big name villages in Burgundy.
