Dalwhinnie Distillery is located in the Highland village of Dalwhinnie within the Cairngorm National Park, and is the highest working distillery in Scotland at 326 metres above sea level. Built in 1897 and initially named Strathspey, it was renamed Dalwhinnie when production began in 1898, taking its name from the Gaelic for "Plain of Meetings." The distillery draws its water exclusively from Lochan na Doire-uaine in the Drumochter Hills and is also notable for its rare worm tub condensers.
Dalwhinnie's 15-year-old expression offers aromas of heather and peat, a smooth, malty-sweet palate with hints of vanilla and citrus, and a long finish of smoke and malt.
