Another super smash hit of a wine from Zuccardi who are making quite a habit of producing hugely impressive wines that wow the critics, baring in mind the price this could be the most impressive of them all!

The Concreto Malbec is a selection of the stonier parts of their estate vineyards in Paraje Altamira, and they want the expression of the chalk in the soils to avoid any sweetness (that none of the wines have anyway). It fermented with full clusters, but they don't want a carbonic fermentation, so they break the grapes with their feet. The night before I tasted this I had a bottle of the 2014 that is evolving at a glacial pace; it's still young and fresh, very primary. I think this is going to have a similar evolution in bottle. This is an incredible value.

This is very linear and tight with so much blue fruit and violets. Some raspberries, too. Medium body, fine tannins and a long, long finish. Electric at the end.

Compact aromas of black plum, cassis and blackberry are reduced due to fermentation and aging in concrete, but with airing this Malbec opens like fan. A pure and juicy palate gets deeper and more layered with time in the glass. Plum, wild berry and savory flavors of wild herbs and stewed tomato finish with laser-like focus. Drink through 2025.
