Château de Montifaud is a true family enterprise, with Michel and Catherine Vallet, as well as their son Laurent and his wife Elodie, all playing a role. This family-owned domaine and distillery has 125 hectares of vineyards in the heart of the Archiac region, where the Grande and Petite Champagne appellations meet. From these vineyards, they produce lovely, unadulterated, pure, fine, and perfumed cognacs and Pineau des Charentes dessert wines.
Tasting notes: The Vieux Pineau des Charentes Rouge blends Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes. The Cabernet Sauvignon contributes aromatic power, while the Merlot brings richness and body. This combination of grape varieties offers a delicious fruity sensation, with aromas of blackcurrant, candied sour cherries, as well as woody and prune notes. Makes a wonderful aperitif, and also pairs beautifully with Charentais melons, goat cheese, or a chocolate dessert.
