Balvenie Madeira Cask 15 Year Old

Founded in 1889, Balvenie is one of the few remaining distilleries that keep every craft in-house, from malting their own barley to producing their own casks. This Speyside distillery is located in Dufftown just below Glenfiddich, and although they share the same water source, they are hugely different in character. In recent years, Balvenie has gained mass popularity and is one of the most drunk single malts across Scotland.

After his time spent exploring the Madeira region, malt master David C. Stewart began experimenting with these cask types for finishing single malt whisky. Producing a 15 year old first fill american oak whisky that was finished in Madeira casks to increase complexity and provide notes of fresh peaches, orange zest and hazelnut.

The end result is an exceptional whisky with the traditional smooth, honeyed character synonymous with Balvenie, married with notes of toffee and hints of ripe fruit, with a warm, lingering finish.
