Yume, Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, Caldora, 75cl
Although the Montepulicano d'Abruzzo variety is grown all over Abruzzo, it is in the hilly territory of Colline Teramane that produces the best fruit. The grapes for this wine are grown in 40 year old south facing vineyards 250m above sea level. Once the grapes have been pressed, the must is left on the skins for 10 days to extract the tannins and colour. It is aged in barrels for 10 months, blended and then aged for a further six months in wooden vats. It remains in bottle for a further 6 months before release. it is ripe and plummy wine with chocolate and mocha flavours on the palate. It has supple and well-knit tannins and a spicy, cherry finish.
