Domaine Henry Pelle produces wines of world renown and are a true reflection of the terroir. Of particular note are the wines from Morogues, Le Silex du Carroir, Les Blanchais, La Croix au Garde and the Clos des Blanchais.
The potential of this unique terroir in the northern quarter of the appellation of Menetou Salon Morogues was recognised and planted in ‘vieille sélection massale’ (cuttings taken from several old vines in Pellé’s vineyards as opposed to selection of a nursery clone) by Henry Pellé as long ago as 1950s. For here, in the ‘lieu dit’ known locally as ‘Le Carroir’, is silex or ‘flint’: a light sandy terroir pebble-dashed with flintstones. Such terroirs are now world famous for imbuing Sauvignon Blanc with a purity of flavour matched to structure, substance and a long finish. Such wines can be enjoyed young but are often even better three or more years after their release.
Crisp, dry and wonderfully mineral. A fantastic example of single vineyard Sauvignon Blanc from the tiny village of Menetou-Salon. The wine has real substance and displays classic Sauvignon Blanc notes in a more sophisticated and delicate way.
