Loureiro, Quinta do Ameal, 75cl
£16.95

The Lima Valley, running parallel to the more northerly Minho River (by about 25 km), is the source of the region's best Loureiro grapes. And at Ameal, Pedro Araujo has brought the ancient Quinta of Ameal back to glory as the finest exponent of this terrific variety.
12 hectares of vines, planted mostly to Loureiro, are meticulously maintained and low yielded. Registered organic production.
By keeping yields very low at the property, Pedro Araujo produces the finest white wines from Loureiro in the Lima Valley: itself probably the best sub-region in Vinho Verde for this increasingly recognised variety.
Clear and light colored. The wine possesses a good combination and balance of floral and fruity aromas, typical of well-ripened grapes from the Loureiro variety. It has an excellent body, a smooth, yet slightly crisp taste, a fruity palate and a persistent length. Very aromatic, floral, fruity fantastic minerality and a very good freshness. No oak is use on this wine.
