StyleAromatic & Zesty
These are outstanding Sardinian wines with loads of personality, produced in and around Oristano on the West coast of the island. The Vernaccia “Karmis” has no relationship to the Tuscan Vernaccia, with the exception of its name. The wine proves to be full and textured through the palate with a long finish. “Tirso” is a new DOC for this Vernaccia and Contini is one of the leading producers. The Vermentinos are a perfect example of the islands whites; both fresh and characterful. The two Cannonau are produced from grapes sourced from central Sardinia, this indigenous grape varietal is related to the Grenache/Garnacha of southern France and Spain. The Tyrsos has a pale yellow colour with green tints. On the nose the wine is fresh and fruity with aromas of apple and grapefruit and hints of Mediterranean herbs.
