Since the middle of the 80s an ever increasing number of producers have been making serious wines in the Marche region from the Verdicchio grape. These wines are far removed from the anonymous examples produced earlier in the last century from this variety. Verdicchio is a serious grape variety - wonderfully aromatic with weight and presence, it also has the great advantage of producing quality, rich wines. Patrizio Chiaccherini and Donatella Sartarelli are experts in the variety and on their 39 hectares grow nothing else which is rare in the modern age but it shows their commitment to and belief in Verdicchio. The vineyards are all above 300 metres, somewhat steep, and south to south-east facing, with the exception of the Balciana slopes which face north-east. This results in a much longer ripening season and a higher concentration of aromatics and sugars, as well as the occasional late harvest. All the wines are fermented and aged in stainless steel. The success of this product is due to the grapes being softly pressed and to the careful control of temperature during the fermentation process.
The straw yellow colour with greenish reflections emphasises the quality of the grapes as well as the delicate techniques used in its production. A well rounded and palatable wine, beautifully structured. Grassy and fruity aromas and a suggestion of almond on the palate.
