Franz Haas have been producing wine since 1880 and the family-run estate is handed down through the generations to the first-born son Franz Haas. There are 50 hectares of vineyards. The climate is Mediterrean - the summers are hot and winters are cold and there is no water nearby to moderate the temperatures. The grapes for this wine are grown in three different vineyard sites at 400-700 above sea level. Part of the blend is fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks and part in chestnut wood barrels. On the nose it is rose, cloves and lychees and on the palate it is full bodied with a lovely rich mouthfeel and a slightly nutty finish. Traminer Aromatico is also known as Gewurztraminer.
