Shiraz, Journey Wines, 75cl
Journey Wines are a reflection not only of the unique vineyard sites on which the grapes were grown, but also of the journey of winemaker Damian North.
Damian’s journey into the world of wine began working as a sommelier at landmark Sydney restaurants like the original Tetsuya’s in Rozelle and Pier at Rose Bay. Deciding that his future lay in the intriguing world of wine, he studied winemaking at Charles Sturt University and moved to the Yarra Valley where he spent a number of years as assistant winemaker at TarraWarra Estate.
The 2013 Journey Wines Heathcote Shiraz exhibits a deep garnet colour with vivid purple tints. Bursting with aromas of blood plums, dark chocolate and mixed spice, the nose is vibrant and intense. The palate is generous, with concentrated ripe black fruits perfectly balanced by silky tannins.
Ripe & Juicy
Manages to combine complexity and power with elegance and balance; a compote of black fruit flavours is laced with licorice, a touch of tar, and authoritative tannins. Will be very long-lived, kicking more goals along the way. 13.5% alc.
