From vines grown near the little town of Mainqué in the Upper Río Negro Valley, this relatively small, new venture encompasses old pre-phylloxera Malbec vines and a winery originally established in 1927. The wines themselves represent the modern face of Patagonia - fresh, lean, elegant yet beautifully concentrated - and we are delighted to bring you these, our first ever wines from this region. It was definitely worth the wait. Incidentally, '006' is a reference to the first plot of land purchased, no Bond connotations intended.
From the considerably cooler climes of Patagonia in Southern Argentina comes this superb Malbec. Made by the folks at Bodega Aniello in the premium region of the Río Negro, this wine has all the clarity and concentration you expect from the area. The lower temperature of the region leads to a lighter, fresher style of Malbec yet the wine retains all the dark, plumy fruit that defines this wonderful grape variety. In the glass it is unmistakeably Malbec, dark with a bright purple rim and the violet and black cherry aromas leap out of the glass.
