Dornfelder, Louis Guntrum, 75cl
The growing of grapes and making of fine wines has been a part of this well known Rheinhessen family since 1648. Today Louis Konstantin Guntrum continues to build on the achievements of the previous ten generations and is producing some of the area's finest wines from the twelve or so hectares he has under vine. The Guntrum cellars lie between the villages of Nierstein and Oppenheim in one of the most stunning locations beside the great river Rhine and house some exceptionally old, carved barrels.
Dornfelder is a dark-skinned grape of German origin used for red wine. It was created by August Herold at the grape breeding institute in Weinsberg in the Württemberg region in 1955.
This wine is medium bodied & brimming with red fruits, cherries, strawberry & raspberry, there is a clearly defined sweetness on the palate too which only adds further to the sheer drinkability, serve slightly chilled along side cold meats & you're on to a winner.
